Biography
I was born in the Gölyaka neighbourhood of the Beyşehir district of Konya. After my primary, secondary and higher education I have worked in the fields of English, communication, archaeology, tourism and cultural heritage, and tourist guiding. I am a professional tourist guide licensed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism; I am also a faculty member in the Tourism Guiding department of the Faculty of Tourism at Necmettin Erbakan University (Assoc. Prof., ORCID: 0000-0002-1795-4607). Alongside advanced English I am a licensed fencing coach and a professional diver; theatre, Turkish folk music, diving, hiking and cultural heritage research are among my main interests. I am married with two children.
After studying English Language Teaching, Radio-Television-Cinema and Tourist Guiding at Selçuk University, I read International Relations at Anadolu University and completed my doctorate in Archaeology/Tourism in 2019. For years I taught and managed English programmes at various universities and language centres, and developed preparation programmes for examinations such as KPDS, YDS, YÖKDİL, TOEFL and IELTS.
Alongside my academic work in communication I have also produced and directed documentaries; my documentary “Oasis in the Desert: Meke Salt Lake” won the best cinematography award at the Kar Film Festival. I worked as an archaeologist on the Kubâd Âbâd Palace, Tyana Ancient City and Gökhöyük excavations, took part in underwater archaeology work, and served as an information officer for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. My areas of expertise are cultural tourism, cultural heritage management and sustainable tourism.
