Frequently Asked Questions
We have gathered the questions most often asked when planning a Konya tour, answered by our guides. If you cannot find what you are looking for, write to us and we will add it.
Is a licensed tourist guide required to visit Konya?
In Türkiye, tourist guiding is an official profession regulated by Law No. 6326 on the Profession of Tourist Guiding, and practising it without a licence is prohibited. To tour in a group and be told about the places you visit, you must contract a tourist guide and have them with you throughout the tour.
Alongside the licence issued by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, a guide holds a working card (kokart) renewed each year by their professional chamber. The law requires this card to be worn visibly at chest height while working — so the badge is proof that the person in front of you may legally do this job.
How many days does Konya take to see?
The main sights in the city centre — Sille, Alaaddin Hill, Şems-i Tebrizî and the Mevlana Museum — fit into a single day; our Classic Konya Tour programme sets out that flow hour by hour.
With two days, the programme covers the same places without rushing and makes room for central stops such as the Karatay Madrasa, the Taş Bina Digital Museum and the Bedesten Bazaar. If you want to see places further out — Çatalhöyük, Beyşehir or Ereğli — you will need to set aside separate days for them.
Museums in Konya generally open at 09:00, so programmes do not start earlier; note also that summer and winter timetables differ.
How is the guiding fee determined?
In tourist guiding, the minimum fee is set each year by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and no work is done below that floor. For 2026, the minimum guiding fee is 5,566 ₺ for day trips and 6,708 ₺ for package tours. For tours priced in foreign currency, our association applies a floor of 120 $ / 105 € per day trip and 145 $ / 125 € per package tour.
This amount is payment for the guide’s service; transport, accommodation, meals and museum admission are separate. The length, language and scope of the tour and the size of the group all affect the final fee.
Which languages do your guides work in?
Our guides’ working cards cover languages including English, German, Russian, Arabic, French, Persian, Korean and Indonesian; English is the most widely available.
You can see which guide works in which language using the language filter on our Guides page. If you cannot find the language you need in the list, ask us anyway — as an association we can point you in the right direction.
